York County steps in crap again

by Maddog on Jun.04, 2009, under News, Politics

Last week I first read about a concerted push for an increase in the hotel tax in York County from 3 percent to 5 percent. I talked about it in my podcast.

It turns out the BS is deeper than I thought.

Two of the three York County commissioners voted to spend $40,000 of tax money on a tourism ad promoting York County. Then I find out the $40,000 was part of a $50,000 ad proposed by John Riggle, who happens to own a marketing firm. Mr Riggle allegedly contributed $2,000 toward the ad, with the remaining $8,000 coming from the York County Economic Development Corp.

The ad ran on TV and radio in May, and it contained a toll free number. Now you think that is bad enough?

Time to abolish government funded education

by Maddog on Jun.03, 2009, under Court, News

The 3rd circuit court of appeals in Philadelphia, ruled against reading pages from a bible in class.
An article can be found on Law.com

Now here is what grabbed my attention: “Writing for the court, 3rd Circuit Chief Judge Anthony J. Scirica said “parents of public school kindergarten students may reasonably expect their children will not become captive audiences to an adult’s reading of religious texts.”

When parents participate in an elementary school’s curricular activities, Scirica said, school officials have the right to require that the parents refrain from promoting specific messages in class.”

Chain of events in motion

by Maddog on Jun.02, 2009, under News

I’ve always believed that there is no such thing as motion without cause.
It never ceases to amaze me how everything I do, even the small things have an effect on the world around me.

Example: Yesterday I approved the first comment from moderation on my blog in this article. Previous comments were either spam or just plain unacceptable.

That is how I found this really cool site: Naturally Good Magazine.
I spent hours reading articles, listening to The Health Wyze Report (their podcast), and reading some great blog post in their blog section. (continue reading…)

Appealing to the court of common pleas

by Maddog on May.31, 2009, under Court

In an earlier article I wrote about how I was charged with failure to file a local earned income tax return.
After the local District Magistrate found me guilty with no evidence I appealed to the Dauphin County Court of common pleas.

Appealing a summery offense to the Court of common pleas is a simple filing of some paperwork and paying the filing fee. The paper work is filed at the clerk of courts. You need the name of the complaining party as listed on the criminal complaint, the name of the District Magistrate and an address to send them a copy of the notice of appeal. You also need all the basic info on the case: charge, verdict, date & time of the hearing. Also make sure you ask for extra stamped copies of everything you file.

After filing the paperwork I go back to my office and start writing the pretrial motion. (continue reading…)

Statute of limitations

by Maddog on May.30, 2009, under Court, SelfDefense

One day in June of 2007, I received a summons from a District Magistrate in Dauphin County.

It turned out to be a private criminal complaint filed by the West Hanover Township manager, accusing me of failure to file an earned income tax return. The first thing I found interesting was the fact that I was being accused of failure to file by April 15, 2003, for the tax year 2002. Here’s the problem: I was not a resident nor worked in West Hanover Township at anytime during the year 2002. So they did not have jurisdiction.

Now the average chicken neck American craps his pants when he receives a court summons. I was laughing at the weakness of the case. They had none. Even if I did reside or work in West Hanover Township at any point in 2002, the burden of proof was on the prosecution. So I decided to do some legal research. (continue reading…)

University student starts Men’s rights group

by Maddog on May.29, 2009, under News, Politics

I thought this was really cool. I mean, men standing up and speaking out about their place as leaders in civilization is great.

From the article: Hayward said one of the biggest myths borne of the women’s movement was that men like to help each other out.

“We are competing directly for access to women and jobs,” he said.
It is great to see someone pointing this out. The article discusses how their are a bunch of women’s advocacy groups, but no men advocacy groups. And then one of the women’s groups is complaining : Jessica Pan, president of Women in Business and a fourth-year student, questioned whether Men in Power’s goals were being met by existing student groups
Talk about open hypocrisy!

These females don’t understand that there are plenty of advantages to being female.

For instance :
1- Free drinks, food, gifts, etc.
2- Many government programs that cater to female exclusively.
3- Getting all the sex you desire simply by saying yes. (unless you are really fat or disfigured) Even the best looking men has to “have his game on” and stick his neck out. And every man gets shot down sooner or later.
There are others I can’t think of right now. If you have any to add, leave me a comment.
