Inspection stickers for cars.
by Maddog on May.08, 2009, under Court, Police, Politics
Today I was driving down the road and saw stopped traffic ahead of me. I saw a truck with a “wide load” sign and a State Trooper escort. I was sitting there for about ten minutes when the state trooper passed me. Then he stopped his car started backing up, got out of his car and started walking towards my car.
At that point I’m thinking, “you have got to be kidding me”.
You see, I haven’t renewed my slave tag (inspection sticker) since October, and this is May.
I rolled down my window as he said, “The truck broke down you are going to have to turn around and take a detour”
He didn’t say a word about the sticker. I was sorta hoping for a ticket so I could challenge the inspection law as unconstitutional.
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Calling something an inspection doesn’t change the fact that it is a search.
I’ll post more when I finally get a citation.
